Given the requirements of the GST, book keeping has become more complicated. Businesses who were happy to give the basic box of receipts at the end of the year to their accountant are now realising that it just isn't going to work. The Business Activity Statement (BAS) is due either every month or quarter and suddenly their accountant's bill has at least trebled. What to do? There are several solutions available - and not all of them cost a fortune! 1.Continue as normal, but pass the 'box of accounts' to myself, I am able to prepare them ready for the GST on a regular basis. This costs at $66.00 per hour incl GST. I find that the books prepared this way take from 4 hours - 12 hours a month depending on the size of the business. I recommend this for businesses that have had problems with book keeping and need significant 'cleanup work' to get things back together again. Once things are in good order, I am able to pass them (if the client chooses) to an employee of the clients and train them in data entry. 2. Purchase a computer, install MYOB and learn to enter your own data. This is going to cost you around $2000 (GST Incl) upfront for the computer and software, but long term is really the cheaper option. I am able to get the system up to scratch, then train you over a period of weeks to enter in the data. At the end of the month for an hour or so I would then pop in onsite to 'clean up' or perhaps reconcile the accounts. Of course there are all sorts of solutions in between, however the above demonstrate my flexibility in dealing with book work. I understand if you 'don't want to know about the accounting side of things'. I also understand and am happy to support you if 'you want to learn to do things for yourself' In addition to the above, I also provide onsite 'troubleshooting'. That is, I can assess your business book keeping to see that it is providing sufficient accurate data that is going to be accepted by your accountant. I can correct, and more importantly train you and your staff how to enter the data to ensure continuing accuracy. This service costs marginally more at $77.00 an hour (including GST). The bottom line for me is that your accounts are prepared properly and on time. Your success in business is more important!
